More About Training Offerings

"Oftentimes, librarians do not get additional training or professional development on working specifically with students who have disabilities. This training was an excellent overview with great examples on how to work with students with disabilities and make sure everyone is seen and valued in the library. Courtney is a great advocate for this population and the value of libraries for them. And even though this training is specific to students with disabilities, everyone in our school can benefit from the focus of inclusion and creative thinking."

More About Author Services

"As a teacher, mother, and author, Courtney Walker's watershed idea to adapt library books for students with disabilities is both exciting and inspiring. If you've listened to Courtney talk about adapted books, you can't help but be inspired. This is differentiation at its finest, bringing popular children's literature to wherever her students are."

Projects

Plano Public Library Adapted Book Collection

In collaboration with the Plano Public Library, we helped launch the first adapted book collection in a public library setting. This project made sensory-friendly, accessible picture books available for checkout by families of readers with disabilities—many for the first time. The collection was designed to promote equity, inclusion, and joy in public literacy spaces, and was developed in close partnership with Plano Public Library and community volunteers.

More About the Collection

"Libraries for All and its founder Courtney Walker opened up an avenue for me to engage with all readers at a school visit. I recently used the adapted version of my book Dusk Explorers at a school visit, and I could feel the excitement and eagerness from each student as they touched the various pages and listened the story. I can tell that these students will take away a whole lot more from the school visit experience, because of the hands-on, sensory opportunity with my book."
